During a chat with Brazil’s A Radio Rock, Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello opened up about the band being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year.

Blabbermouth transcribed Morello as saying, “It’s great. And we were nominated five times, and so I was pleased that we finally got in on the fifth one. I like the idea that there’s a place like the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame that pays attention to the accomplishments in multiple genres for things artists have done.”

He continued, “Over the course of the last few years, I think the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has become more democratic. Hard rock artists, which were normally kind of marginalized — from Rush to Kiss to Judas Priest to even Stevie Ray Vaughan, which had trouble getting in — now are welcomed in. So I think it’s a nice home for Rage Againat The Machine, to be joining some of my favorite bands: Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Public Enemy, the Clash. That’s pretty good company to be in.”

The 2023 Rock Hall induction ceremony will be held on Friday, November 3rd at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Tom Morello, who is well known for his political activism, told us a while back that social change has always been his main motivation for making music: “I need to add my voice and what I do best, which is play guitar, y’know? I need to be another link in the chain to start turning this thing around. Y’know, as the great historian Howard Zinn says, you can’t be neutral on a moving train, and this train’s moving in the wrong direction. And it’s not time to be sitting in the dining car sipping martinis, it’s time to be mugging the conductor.”
