The 25th anniversary of Oasis‘ legendary 1996 Knebworth appearances will be the focus of an upcoming documentary. Rolling Stone reported the still-untitled film will be directed by Jake Scott with both Noel and Liam Gallagher serving as executive producers. The film, which features footage of Oasis on August 10th and 11th, 1996 at the peak of their UK dominance following 1995’s (What’s The Story) Morning Glory, promises “a behind-the-scenes look at Oasis’s performances, including never-before-seen footage of the band’s sets in front of 250,000 fans.”

Jake Scott said of the upcoming project: “It’s a story-driven entirely by the music, a rock & roll experience, told in the moment, like a visual stream of consciousness that is built around the extensive archive footage from the event. No on-camera interviews or unnecessary celebrity recollections.”

A year after the Knebworth gigs, Oasis released its disappointing third album, Be Here Now, which failed to live up to its first two blockbusters — 1994’s Definitely Maybe and 1995’s (What’s The Story) Morning Glory. Not long after its release, Noel Gallagher told us that in retrospect, Be Here Now should never should have been recorded: “I don’t think we should have done Be Here Now, to be honest. None of us really were f***ing in the right frame of mind to even attempt to go and record an album, but I suppose you’ve got to go through that s***, y’know, to get to the good stuff. And I’m more excited about the stuff we’re gonna do this time next year.”
