A new clip dated from around 2013 has made its way online featuring Metallica attempting to play its 1991 classic “Enter Sandman” backwards. MetalSucks.net posted the clip that was uploaded by YouTuber ATARAXIA, which shows the band attempting to play and sing the song in reverse — before the clip begins to play the studio version backwards.

“Enter Sandman” was the lead single pulled from Metallica’s self-titled fifth album, known as “The Black Album,” and has gone to become a staple of the band’s concerts as well as rock and classic rock radio. Former bassist Jason Newsted admitted to us he wasn’t sure about the song at first: “To me, it didn’t register until we played it in front of people, really. I mean, I knew the radio liked it and all that kind of thing, but until you’re right there and the crowd is louder than the PA, doing that thing, that’s how you find out, is by everybody clapping along to it and singing along to it. That’s how you get to know you’ve succeeded.”

Metallica will next perform on October 8th and 10th in Sacramento at Aftershock at Discovery Park.
