Bob Weir & Wolf Bros are heading back on the road — with the first four shows of the year going on sale on Friday (April 30th). Weir and the band are booked to play Morrison, Colorado’s Red Rock Amphitheatre on June 8th and 9th, followed by a pair of shows on June 11th and 12th at Vail’s Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater. The Grateful Dead co-founder said of the newly announced 2021 dates: “Been too long, but I can’t think of a better place to pick it back up.”
In addition to Bob Weir, the Wolf Bros are rounded out by Don Was and Jay Lane — with the upcoming shows featuring Jeff Chimenti on keyboards and Greg Leisz on pedal steel, along with the Wolfpack: Alex Kelly, Brian Switzer, Adam Theis, Mads Tolling, and Sheldon Brown.
Bob Weir told us that playing with a group pretty much gives him everything he needs musically: “Well, y’know, the kind of music that I like is the kind that takes a number of people to play — it’s an ensemble kind of deal. What I really have the most fun with is improvisational music that it takes a number of people to make. And you never know where its going and you never know what you’re gonna get out of it. But you develop an ability to make sure that does happen, and I kind of like that adventure.”
