Aerosmith‘s co-founding guitarist Brad Whitford isn’t hopeful about the band’s live prospects. Blabbermouth transcribed some of Whitford’s chat on Joe Bonamassa‘s interview video series, Live From Nerdville. and explained “The European tour, they tried to plan one last year, and they’re talking about next year. It’s a pipe dream right now. Nothing’s gonna happen for a long time. Sometimes I’m not sure what my partners are thinking when they think that’s gonna happen.”

Whitford went on to say that there are several factors playing against the band ever fully returning to the road: “There’s another interesting thing about going to Europe now because of Brexit — it’s so much harder to get work visas because of that. That’s gonna be a whole other nightmare. I mean, I have my doubts about Aerosmith ever really performing again at this stage, because age is becoming a real factor. And it is what it is.”

Brad Whitford told us he’s comfortable with the numbers that Aerosmith are hitting with its recent releases, especially since they’re no longer reaching the same demographic they were during their ’90s heyday: “A majority of young people that buy records — which is the people that buy records, really — are so heavily influenced by so many other genres of music and stuff. And I think we’re moving out of that a little bit — probably not as bad as the Stones had it, because they were never huge album sellers anyway. You start to move into a time where there’s just no way you’re going to catch certain younger kids just because of how old you are. You can’t do it.”
