Long time Detroit Sportscaster Al Ackerman passed away a few weeks ago.  He was the person who coined the phrase “Bless You Boys” in 1984 when the Tigers won the World Series.  Long before that, my mom had contact with Mr. Ackerman through working at Hudson’s. He was nice enough to invite us to the studios to watch a newscast.  A very nice man.  When he passed his family asked that in lieu of flowers, Al’s request is that you should take someone to a baseball game.  To honor his memory, I’ve done it couple of times so far this season and plan on more.  Thanks, Al!  Bless You!
