Ethan Browne, son of singer Jackson Browne and actress Phyllis Major, was found dead at age 52 in his home on Tuesday (November 25), with the cause of death listed by the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office as “deferred.” The 77-year-old musician made the heartbreaking announcement of his son’s death on Instagram, writing: “It is with deep sorrow that we share that on the morning of November 25, 2025, Ethan Browne was found unresponsive in his home and has passed away. We ask for privacy and respect for the family during this difficult time. No further details are available at this moment.” Ethan, who appeared in films such as Raising Helen and Hackers, worked as a model, DJ, and musician, and also acted in the TV show, Birds of Prey. As a baby, he was famously featured on the cover of Rolling Stone with his father. Jackson Browne reflected in past interviews on the challenges of parenting after losing his first wife to an overdose when Ethan was only three, acknowledging the struggles and mistakes he faced while raising his son.
