Flint’s Classic Rock – 103.9 The Fox

It’s Christmas time and every Christmas something comes out that is a must have! This year you can thank a little company called Nintendo for draining your pocket book. When I was much younger I remember my parents (Santa) getting my brother, sister and I an NES for Christmas. I am guessing it was the Christmas of 88′. I have to say looking back on it that gift not only started my love for video games but it might be one of the best gifts anyone has ever given me. Surely I could not be the only one , right? I am guessing that is what the folks over at Nintendo were thinking as well. This year the hot new toy is the NES Mini, 30 classic games in one small looking NES. I can’t blame Nintendo about the price (around $60). That sounds good to me $2 per game! Remember games were $50 for the original NES and that does not factor in $89.99 for the console. Nintendo was not sure if the NES mini was going to go over like a lead balloon or Led Zeppelin if you will. So they ended up making a limited quantity. In my mind that makes total sense, why sit on something people are not buying! But guess what? Now everyone that had a classic NES wants to play the games they had, on top of that you have a ton of kids that are getting into retro gaming now. As you can guess the prices are skyrocketing online . All I have to say is if you are looking for one in stores good luck! If you are going to grab one online look to spend anywhere from $200-$1,000. This feel like Tickle Me Elmo all over again.

Just a quick screen shot to show I am not joking about the prices.
